A Workshop on Presentation Skills for Computer Science Students at Trincomalee Campus.
I was invited by the Computer Science Society of Trincomalee Campus, EUSL to conduct a workshop on Presentation Skills to final year undergraduates at the Department of Computer Science on the 26th of August 2025. It was a productive afternoon with the students as many of them became aware of the importance of presentation skills in the industry, especially in their field of Computer Science and Information Technology.
While I dealt with some of the basics such as Purpose, Audience Awareness, Structure, Clarity, Conciseness, Voice Modulation, Body Language, Confidence, Overcoming Stage Fear and Storytelling, I also encouraged these future tech professionals to take advantage of the plenty of examples that they can find in the tech world's numerous presentations of products. I used "The Importance of Cyber Security" as the theme for the many examples in my presentation, suiting well to their field of interest.
It was also a great learning moment for the students when I divided them into groups and place before them the task of an instantaneous presentation - robotics companies presenting their recent and upgraded robots.
The students truly enjoyed the workshop while I'm sure the effect of it will last longer in them. Thanking the Computer Science Society, and the Head and Staff of the Department Computer Science for inviting me.
