"A Fisherman Mourned By His Wife" | Poetry with Painting by Trincomalee Campus Students

This afternoon, the 2nd Year - B.A. Languages Students of our department, who are reading 'Sri Lankan Literature' this semester, attracted the campus crowd passing by with their wonderful painting of Patrick Fernando's poem "A Fisherman Mourned By His Wife." They had presented their perspectives and interpretations of this metaphorically complex poem on this painting and thus gave an opportunity for all those who stopped by under this Margosa tree to enjoy this art of poetry, coupled with the sound of a soft violin played nearby. I was thrilled to see how the combination of poetry, art and music paved the way for a lot of socially-essential discussions to happen under that tree.
