A Song for Sri Lanka

Composed back in the year 2006, this song was an important part of our first album "Jesus is my Beloved" which was released in the same year. With Sagishna Xavier's music touch, the song became my thanks giving and prayer for Sri Lanka. I composed this song for the Methodist Day Celebrations 2006, where this song was sung by the Puliyantivu Methodist Church Choir, as a special number, in Batticaloa. We had very few recording facilities both in terms of music and singing as school boys, and we had to do our best to ensure that something nice could be made out of it.

Lyrics & Melody by Eby
Music, together with Sagishna

We thank Thee for thou hath done
We praise thee for making us your sons

O Lord we lift your name
We need your love again
We need your grace again
We want your power again
Our nation seeks your name
Sri Lanka needs your name.

We remember the souls who brought us your word
Thank you Lord for them
They showed us your way and taught us to pray
We praise You Lord for them

We remember the days You brought us in your ways
Thank you Lord for them
We went out of your ways You caught us by your grace
We praise You Lord for them

We want to serve you Lord and spread your gospel, Lord
Give us Lord the strength
We want to live with you and live a life to you
Give us Lord the strength
