Don't fool your own self; my lovely bird!
by Eby
Dear crow; my lovely bird.
Who said you are not beautiful?
You are; yes you are beautiful
As long as you try to be a crow.
Don't lose your shining black
And make it a dull brown.
Don't spoil your well settled feathers
And make it a clumsy gown.
Just imagine yourself!
If you can't, just look at your reflection.
Why do you try to imitate
The swans in the lake?
Swans have the gift of swimming and being calm.
You have the gift of flying and crowing around.
I feel like laughing at you
Whenever you try to imitate the swans.
Splashing and splashing in the lake;
You don't know to swim.
Searching for any changes in you, again splashing!
You even spoil the calmness around you.
The writings in Oxford say
You sound rough and unpleasant.
You sound rough and unpleasant.
I just want to tell you,
You better learn to be like a crow,
Coz being a swan will never suite you.
Don't fool your own self; my lovely bird,
You know who you are.
I always want to see you
As a lovely bird; as you are.
This poem is so simple and well constructed... sometimes being simple can be the most difficult and complex thing ... you've mastered the art Eby ... Keep writing :)
